Assignment:

Create a product or products at www.cafepress.com.  You can create any product available on their website.  Sell it to anyone you want.  The team that has the highest profit by the beginning of our 9th week class period wins!

Here’s how it works:

  1. Create a free account.
  2. Prepare and upload the artwork you want on your product(s) (there are templates on the website for each product).
  3. Start selling!

What CafePress does:

  1. Gives you a FREE online shop to promote your products
  2. Produces each item when ordered using print-on-demand technology
  3. Handles all payment transactions including major credit cards
  4. Ships your products worldwide
  5. Manages all returns/exchanges
  6. Offers customer service via toll-free phone and email
  7. Sends you a monthly check for your earnings on sales!

You don’t have to spend any money if you don’t want to.

Assignments along the way:

Week 5: Accounts must be created and shown to instructor! Turn in team name, target market, product concepts, initial marketing plan.

  1. You must follow these design guidelines for your final paper.
  2. You can find some useful sources here.

Team Assignments:

Teams have been chosen by the instructor based on a number of factors.  Just as on The Apprentice, you cannot switch teams unless a (very unlikely) “corporate restructuring” is deemed necessary by the instructor.

Please refer to project handouts for lists of teams.
